Road project 0014996: LAKEWOOD TRAIL FEASIBILITY STUDY
Under Construction · Special Studies · Cities: Atlanta · Funding: NEPA · The proposed 2.12 mile long segment of the Lakewood multi-use trail would run from the intersection of Lakewood Ave and the South Bend Trail north to the intersection of the Atlanta BeltLine/CSX railroad corridor and McDonough Blvd. The trail would directly connect the Lakewood and Screen Gems area, the neighborhoods of South Atlanta, Villages at Carver, and Lakewood Heights, as well as the Villages at Carver Family YMCA, four public schools, three city parks, Lakewood Stadium, and Aaron's Amphitheater. The project includes a 12-foot wide concrete trail, lighting, landscaping, and trail amenities as well as a new pedestrian activated HAWK signal where the trail crosses Lakewood Ave. The trail also includes a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge paralleling Lakewood Ave near South Bend Park.
