Road project 0019616: BIG SHANTY RD FROM CHASTAIN MEADOWS PKWY TO BELLS FERRY RD
Construction Work Program · Widening · Cities: Not City · Funding: NEPA · This project proposes to widen the existing one-lane each direction undivided section of Big Shanty Rd from Chastain Meadows Pkwy to Bells Ferry Rd to a two lane each direction raised median divided roadway. The intersection of Big Shanty Rd and Chastain Meadows Pkwy will be reconstructed as a multilane roundabout to address current and future traffic demands. The intersection of Big Shanty Rd and Bells Ferry Rd will be reconstructed into a single lane roundabout with bypass lanes. The widening of Big Shanty Rd will occur to the northern side of the roadway which will allow for the retention of the recently constructed sidewalk to the south side of Big Shanty Rd and minimize impacts to the existing utilities to the greatest extent possible. The project will be 0.46 miles in length and is located within the Town Center CID.
