Road project 0006915: POST ROAD FROM SR 9 TO CR 5/KELLY MILL ROAD
Construction Work Program · Widening · Cities: Not City · Funding: GEPA · The proposed project consists of widening Post Rd from SR 9 (Atlanta Hwy) to Kelly Mill Rd. It is located west of the City of Cumming in west Forsyth County. The project length is 3.64 miles. The proposed design includes two lanes in each direction with a 16-ft raised median. The design speed is 45 mph. The proposed urban shoulder widths are 10 ft on the west side with 2 ft-6-inch curb and gutter & 5-ft sidewalk & 16 ft on the east side with 2 ft-6-inch curb and gutter & 10-ft sidewalk. Operational access at all intersections will also be investigated to determine access & intersection control types. This project is a local let & is expected to take 36 months to complete. The approved Concept Report includes two projects: PI 0006915 and PI 0013965 (Widen Post Rd from Kelly Mill Rd to SR 20). The sponsor has decided to pursue the PI 0006915 portion at this time.
